3D modeling / Printing

The use of 3D modeling software enables the production of basic CAD designs, which can be utilized for printing in various plastics and composite materials, facilitating efficient part creation while also considering carbon production.

Prepreg materials are considered the best method of making carbon parts. As they allow to create strong yet lightweight parts for automotive applications, however it is more costly, and requires an expensive autoclave oven to cure so not attainable to most.

Dry cloth laminating is a more cost-effective method of carbon production, due to the fact it doesn't need a £20-100,000 autoclave oven.

resin infusion

The vacuum and resin infusion processes is where dry cloth composite materials used, which required resin to be pumped into the part whilst under vacuum. This technique is more attainable for the average person who can do this at home with relatively low cost equivalent (just pumps and vacuum bagging materials). This technique so most likely the starting point for most.

Prepreg materials require curing in an autoclave oven that combines pressure and heat to create high quality composite materials.
